Our Philosophy
The Philosophy of the Sandshore SchoolLibrary is to establish and maintain an environment that is a place of teaching,learning, group work, collaboration,creativity, change, inquiry and communication about learning. Our philosophy places a sound view on students, accessibility, cultivating community, project-based learning, adaptability, knowledge seeking, and exploration. Our program focuses on building a flexible learning environment with the goal of producing successful learners skilled in multiple literacies. The Library Media Center's goal is to strengthen student learning and serves as a resource for the school community. Our core objective is to encourage students to develop life-long skills in communications,critical thinking, and the utilization of information while instilling a love of reading and learning.
Volunteers
We Love Volunteers! Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for the Sandshore Library. We appreciate the donation of your time and effort to help our library! You are part o four school community and your help is valued by all.
Here are some examples of assistance: Assist staff with checking students' books out in Destiny; straightening materials; organizing Makerspace Station; Collect returned books and check them in Destiny system; Re-shelve books according to call numbers; Assist studentswith book searches on computer; Make sure students are where they need to be in the library; Guide students towards creative inquiry in Makerspace Centers; During lesson activities assure students are on task and to collect lesson materials.
