Special Services Department

When a student has experienced difficulties with some aspect of school, staff members or parents may seek assistance from the school's Child Study Team (CST).  Children between the ages of three (3) and twenty-one (21), whose parents are legal residents of the Mount Olive Township School District, can be evaluated by the Child Study Team (CST) to determine if there an educational disability is present.

The CST is comprised of 3-4 members including:

School Social Worker

School Psychologist

Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant

A Speech and Language Specialist is a member of the team for evaluations of preschoolers and those school age students whose presenting problems appear to be in the area of language development.

Each school in the Mount Olive Township District has a Child Study Team assigned on a regular basis. The District contracts with a variety of agencies and professionals in private practice for some types of specialized evaluations.

The purpose of a Child Study Team evaluation is to determine if a student has a disability and is eligible for special education and related services. The criteria for making these determinations are outlined in the New Jersey Administrative Code, Title 6A, Chapter 14(N.J.A.C. 6A:14).
