Mrs. Elizabeth McDermond Appointed New Assistant Superintendent of Schools

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Mrs. Elizabeth McDermond as the new Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the Mount Olive School district, marking the beginning of her tenure on January 3, 2024.
Mrs. McDermond's educational journey is marked by a dedication to both teaching and administrative roles. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from TCNJ, where her passion for education ignited. Her career kicked off at her alma mater, Morris Knolls High School, where she not only taught Social Studies but also took on coaching responsibilities for the women's field hockey and lacrosse teams.
During her time at Morris Knolls, Mrs. McDermond distinguished herself by leading the instructional coaching program. This initiative offered personalized professional development, including job embedded, one-on-one and small group support for staff, reinforcing instructional practices within the school community. Her commitment to education led her to earn a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership: Instruction from The College of New Jersey and a second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership: Administration from Montclair State University.
Mrs. McDermond's administrative journey began as she assumed the role of Vice Principal at James Caldwell High School. Her professional trajectory continued to flourish as she became the Director of Secondary Education in the Caldwell-West Caldwell District. In her role as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Articulation at the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District, she played a crucial role in supporting and enhancing curriculum revision, providing instructional resources, and developing tools to address student-learning goals.
Excitement surrounds Mrs. McDermond as she joins our exceptional district. Eager to collaborate with a dedicated group of educators, administrators, support staff, and families, she brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to her new role. Mrs. McDermond is confident that her background will contribute to and build upon the successes our district has achieved.
